The tool shown in the Tool input tab’s header tab is the one used for the currently selected operation (the one displayed in the Operation Input input tab).

Note

The tool t0ool cannot be changed within the Cutting Parameters add-on but the value for some of its properties can be changed within the Tool pop-up (see below).

Tool properties

The properties value of the tool tool’s properties have one of two possible sources:

  • Fusion Tool Library - the tool library that you originally selected when CAM Assist computed the toolpath strategy (see the screenshot to the right).

  • Tool pop-up - you can replace some of the Fusion values with those you specified in within the Tool pop-up (see below).

Within the Tool pop-up, there are two types of properties:

  • Fusion-specified - properties that you cannot change (such properties have an asterisk at the end of their name)

  • User-specified - properties that you can change (see below

    the screenshot to the right).

    How to change the tool’s properties

    1. Change the property value:

      • The following table shows which properties can be changed and how to change them.

    Chip breaker

    Click the required option (Yes/No/Unknown) - it will go grey.

    Coating

    Click the drop-down arrow and select one of the options.

    Helix angle

    You can do either/both of the following:

    • Enter the value directly into the textbox.

    • Use the up-down buttons to increment/decrement the value (the arrows appear when you the mouse pointer near ‘degrees’).

    Radial rake angle

    You can do either/both of the following:

    • Enter the value directly into the textbox.

    • Use the up-down buttons to increment/decrement the value (the arrows appear when you the mouse pointer near ‘degrees’).

    Tool retention

    Click the drop-down arrow and select one of the options.

    Chip breaker

    Click the required option (Yes/No/Unknown) - it will go grey.

    1. Click on the image-20240610-125723.png button in the top-right of the pop-up:

      • The new machine Tool’s property values are automatically saved.

      • The Machine Tool pop-up closes.
