On clicking the ‘Heatmaps’ option (the one on the right), they are displayed in the Display Area.

Cutting Parameters provides a set of heatmaps that use color to indicate the ideal range for the selected tool.

The heatmaps are for information purposes only, they are a visual aid to help you check the tool’s current configuration.

Layout

The following table details the features of the Heatmaps display (as annotated in the image to the right).

Heatmap

  • The heatmap uses a color scale (2) to indicate the ideal range of values for the tool.

    • Generally, the ideal range is colored green.

  • A white cross shows the current position of the tool in the heatmap (see Dynamic adjustments, below).

Dynamic Adjustments

All displayed heatmaps are dynamically updated by changes to any of the following inputs:

If the inputs are changed, all displayed heatmaps are immediately updated.

Quality Control sliders

Provides the following choices for tool control:

  • Coarse (1 slider) - enables you to specify a value in a range that tends to an ‘Increased tool life’ or an ‘Increased productivity’.

  • Fine (2 sliders) - enables you to specify an additional value in a range that tends to an ‘Increased risk of rubbing’ or an ‘Increased risk of chipping the tool’.
