CAM Assist is a Siemens NX add-on: NX must be closed before updating CAM Assist.

In order to update, there is no need to uninstall your currently installed version of CAM Assist.


System Requirements

Before installing, please ensure your system meets at least the ‘Recommended setting’ shown in the following table.

  • Windows 11 64-bit Professional

  • Intel® or AMD 64-bit processor,

  • 2.4 GHz or faster

  • Latest generation Intel i7/i9 processor, 3.2GHz or faster

Memory

  • Windows 10 → 8-12 GB, or

  • Windows 11 → 32-64 GB

Video

  • OpenGL 3.2 and OpenCL 1.2 support with 1 GB memory.

  • No onboard graphics.

  • NVIDIA RTX or AMD FirePro™/Radeon Pro card with 4 GB (or higher) dedicated memory.

Display resolution

1920 * 1080

Storage

  • Hard drive with at least 20 GB free USB and/or DVD drive (depending on installation media and licensing method)

  • Solid State Drive (SSD) with at least 20 GB free


Installation instructions

1. Close Siemens NX

Please ensure Siemens NX is closed before installing/updating the CAM Assist add-on.

If updating, there is no need to uninstall your currently installed version of CAM Assist.

2. Download CAM Assist

Download the appropriate version of CAM Assist for your Siemens NX software from our website.

3. Run the CAM Assist Installer

  • Locate the file you downloaded in Step 1 and run it (double-click) it.

  • Carefully read the terms and conditions.

  • Complete the installation process by following the on-screen instructions.

4. Finish Installation

  • On the final page of the installer, there is an checkbox to ‘Run Siemens NX’:

    • Check the box to open Siemens NX automatically when the installer is closed

    • If you don’t Siemens to open automatically, uncheck the box.

If you see the 'Windows protected your PC' blue dialog at the start of the install, take the following steps

First, click the underlined More info.

Then, click Run anyway to proceed with the installation.

The CAM Assist installation will now continue (see below).


The first part of the installation setup is the ‘Welcome’ page.

  1. Click ‘Next’.

The next page holds the License Agreement (or Terms of Use Agreement).

  1. Fully read the Terms of Use Agreement.

  2. Click ‘I Agree’ to agree with the terms and continue the installation.

Click ‘Cancel’ if you do not agree or if you have questions you would like to get answered before continuing (please contact CloudNC Support).

When the installation has completed, a summary page is displayed.

  1. Ensure the checkbox for ‘Run Siemens NX’ is checked.

  2. Click ‘Finish’.

    • Siemens NX is opened automatically.

Congratulations, the CAM Assist add-on to Siemens NX is now installed!

Sign-up process

1. Verify Installation

  • Open Siemens NX.

  • Check that CAM Assist appears as a new item on the menu ribbon.

2. Open a Part

  • Start with one of your own parts or open a demo part.

  • To open a demo part, click on the demo parts icon under the CAM Assist section and select ‘Demo Part 1’ to start a new session in Siemens NX.

3. Sign-up for CAM Assist

  • When you open CAM Assist for the first time, it will automatically open a webpage asking you to sign in.

  • If you don’t have an account, scroll down and sign up for CAM Assist.

  • Create a new password following the password guidelines, then press "Next".

  • You will receive an email with a one-time verification code. Check your email and enter the verification code in the dialog box.

4. Start Using CAM Assist

  • Assuming you have an active subscription to CAM Assist, you will see a confirmation page indicating a successful login.

  • You can now start using CAM Assist.


Locating CAM Assist

  • After installation, you should see a CAM Assist menu, as depicted in the image below.

  • In you don't see the CAM Assist icon, open a part within the software and attempt the process again.

  • Alternatively, if the CAM Assist icon is still not visible, right-click on the menu bar. Choose "Tabs/Bar" and ensure that "CAM Assist" is selected from the options.
