Tool header
The tool shown in the Tool input tab’s header is the one used for the currently selected operation (the one displayed in the Operation Input tab).
The tool cannot be changed within Cutting Parameters but some of its properties can be changed within the Tool pop-up (see below).
Tool properties
The properties of the tool have one of two possible sources:
Fusion Tool Library
Tool pop-up - you can replace some of the Fusion values with those specified in the pop-up (see below).
Tool pop-up
On clicking the ‘Tool' input tab, its pop-up covers the Display Area (see the screenshot to the right).
Within the Tool pop-up, there are two types of properties:
Fusion-specified - properties that you cannot change (such properties have an asterisk at the end of their name)
User-specified - properties that you can change (see below).
How to change the tool’s properties
Change the property value:
The following table shows which properties can be changed and how to change them.
Property | How to change |

Chip breaker | Click the required option (Yes/No/Unknown) - it will go grey. |
Coating | Click the drop-down arrow and select one of the options. For a definition of the Coating options, see the Glossary listing. |
Helix angle | You can do either/both of the following:

Tool retention | Click the drop-down arrow and select one of the options. |

Click on the button in the top-right of the pop-up:
The new machine property values are automatically saved.
The Machine pop-up closes.
