How to Use the 3+2 'Automatic' Machining Mode

Automatic 3+2 strategies are only available for evaluation through participation in CloudNC’s ‘Early Access Beta Program' (see below).

This page step-by-step instructions on how to use the 3+2 Axis machining mode, with the ‘Automatic' machining direction.


Step-by-step instructions

Selecting a part and opening CAM Assist

While you are free to use any part, these instructions uses ‘Demo 1’ (available from the CAM Assist panel).

  1. Select a part - expand the CAM Assist panel (shown to the right):

    1. Hover over ‘Open a Demo Part’.

    2. Select ‘Demo 1’.

  2. Open CAM Assist - expand the CAM Assist panel and select ‘CloudNC CAM Assist’.

Specifying the ‘3+2 Axis’ machining mode

  1. Tool library - select a ‘Tool library’ from the drop-down.

  2. Stock material - select a material from the drop-down.

  3. Machine - clicking the drop-down arrow for the Machine displays a set of properties that CAM Assist needs to compute a toolpath strategy.

  4. Machining mode - select ‘3+2 Axis’.

    • The ‘Machining direction' options are displayed.

  5. Machining Direction - select ‘Automatic’.

    • The ‘Warning for the Early Access Beta Program' dialog is displayed.

  6. Click OK.
