Layout

The 2D Milling diagram has the layout shown in the screenshot to the right.

Notice that the diagram has two components:

  • Left image - represents the cutting engagement.

  • Right image - represents the z-plane view of the machining process.

Parameters

As annotated in the screenshot, the 2D Milling diagram contains the following recommended parameters:

  1. Depth of cut (Ap)

2
  1. Spindle

Speed3
  1. speed

  2. Width of cut (Ae)

4
  1. Chip load

5

  1. Feed per tooth

6
  1. Feed rate

Width of cut

The milling diagram contains the recommended values for cutting parameters, as shown in the following diagram.

Quality Control sliders

Provides the following choices for tool control:

  • Coarse (1 slider) - enables you to specify a value in a range that tends to an ‘Increased tool life’ or an ‘Increased productivity’.

  • Fine (2 sliders) - enables you to specify an additional value in a range that tends to an ‘Increased risk of rubbing’ or an ‘Increased risk of chipping the tool’.

For details, see Quality Control Sliders

Each of these parameters, and more, can be amended in the Fine Tune section.

Dynamic adjustments

The 2D Milling diagram is dynamically updated by changes to any of the following inputs:

Info

If any inputs are changed, the 2D milling diagram is immediately updated.
