The 2D Milling diagram provides a dynamic illustration of

the

Cutting

parameter recommendations. The left image represents the tool and the right image represents the tool’s operation on the part being machined.

As the cutting parameters inputs are changed, the 2D milling diagram is immediately updated.

Layout and features

Parameter recommendations. Any changes to relevant ‘inputs’ are immediately shown in the 2D Milling diagram.

To display the 2D Milling diagram,

select the ‘2D Milling diagram’ option, as shown in the following screenshot.2d_milling_diagram.drawio.pngImage Removed

click the left icon on the display switch (shown to the right).

Layout

The 2D Milling diagram has the layout shown in the screenshot to the right.

Notice that the diagram has two components:

The left
  • Left image - represents the cutting engagement.

The right
  • Right image - represents the z-

place
  • plane view of the machining process.

Parameters

As annotated in the screenshot

, the 2D Milling diagram contains the following recommended parameters:

  1. Depth of cut (Ap)

  2. Spindle speed

  3. Width of cut (Ae)

  4. Chip load

  5. Feed per tooth

  6. Feed rate

Each of these parameters, and more, can be amended in the Fine Tune section.

Dynamic adjustments

The 2D Milling diagram is dynamically updated by changes to any of the following inputs:
