The 2D Milling diagram provides a dynamic illustration of the Cutting parameters. As the cutting parameters are changed as a result of

Layout and features

To display the 2D Milling diagram, select the ‘2D Milling diagram’ option, as shown in the following screenshot.

As annotated in the screenshot above, the 2D Milling diagram contains the following recommended parameters:

  1. Depth of cut (Ap)

  2. Spindle speed

  3. Width of cut (Ae)

  4. Chip load

  5. Feed per tooth

  6. Feed rate

Each of these parameters can be amended in the Fine Tune section.

Dynamic adjustments

The 2D Milling diagram is dynamically updated by changes to any of the following:

  • Input tabs

  • Aggression control sliders

  • Fine tune parameter settings

Tooltips

Hovering over any measurement displays a tooltip that contains the alternative unit system (to change unit system, see Cutting Parameters Layout [#10]).

The screenshot to the right shows the measurement in Imperial with the tooltip in Metric.

The milling diagram contains the recommended values for cutting parameters, as shown in the following diagram.

Quality Control sliders

Provides the following choices for tool control:

  • Coarse (1 slider) - enables you to specify a value in a range that tends to an ‘Increased tool life’ or an ‘Increased productivity’.

  • Fine (2 sliders) - enables you to specify an additional value in a range that tends to an ‘Increased risk of rubbing’ or an ‘Increased risk of chipping the tool’.
