General

The ‘General’ section enables you to specify the environment in which machining will take place, and edit the properties of the chosen machine.

The layout of the section depends on which option you select for Machining mode.

CAM Assist provides two machining modes, as shown in the following side-by-side screenshots.

In addition to the ‘Machining mode’, the layout is also changed when Edit machine properties is clicked (see below)

Features

The following table describes each feature in the ‘General’ section, as shown in the above screenshots.

Feature	Description
Tool library	The Fusion tool library to use within CAM Assist.
Stock material	CAM Assist will select tools, machining strategies, and cutting data presets based on the selected material.
Choose machine	The drop-down list contains two categories of machine: [Generic] - a range of CA Assist generic machines offering a combination of speed, power, and torque. [Local] - Fusion machines that are contained within the ‘Local’ folder of Fusion’s ‘Machine Library’ See Autodesk’s article How to add a custom machine tool to the Machine Library in Fusion.
Edit machine properties	For step-by-step instructions, see How to Edit Machine Properties.
Machining mode	CAM Assist supports ‘3 Axis’ and ‘3+2 Axis’ machining modes. For information, see Machining Modes in the 'How-to Guides’.
Machining Direction	This section of the General tab is displayed when ‘3+2 Axis' is selected for the ‘Machining mode’. For information, see Machining Modes in the 'How-to Guides’.
