Sections

The Machine tab contains the expandable/collapsible following sections:

  • Machine - displays the properties for the machine associated, in Siemens NX, with the part and enables you to select a postprocessor if more than one has been configured for the machine. If a machine has not yet been associated with the part then a generic machine is used by default.

  • Spindle - the value of the Spindle settings are used by required by CAM Assist to compute toolpath strategies. These settings are not stored in Siemens NX.

  • Feeds - the table feed maximum.

For details of the options for each section, see Features, below.

Tooltips

Tooltips contain useful information on the purpose and use of features within the Machine tab. To see a tooltip, just hover over a feature.

The following table list the features of the Machine tab and how to use them.

Machine

Name

The name of the machine associated with the selected part.

Read only (configured in Siemens NX)

Library reference

The library reference for the machine.

Read only (configured in Siemens NX)

Postprocessor

The postprocessors associated with the Machine.

Select a Postprocessor from the drop-down.

Spindle

Minimum speed (rpm)

The minimum revolutions per minute of the spindle.

To edit any of the Spindle’s settings:

  1. Click inside the box

  2. Enter a new value

  3. Click outside the box

Maximum speed (rpm)

The maximum revolutions per minute of the spindle.

Maximum torque (Nm)

The maximum torque (in Newton-meters) of the spindle.

Maximum power (kW)

The maximum power (in kilowatts) of the spindle.

Feeds

Maximum table feed (unit/unit time)

The maximum speed at which the machine's table/workpiece can move along its X, Y, and Z axes.

To edit the table feed:

  1. Click inside the value textbox

  2. Enter a new value

  3. Click outside the textbox.
