'Material' Input Tab

The information in the ‘Material’ input tab has one of two possible sources:

  • Original CAM Assist ‘Stock material’ - the stock material that you originally selected when CAM Assist computed the toolpath strategy (see the screenshot to the right).

  • Material pop-up - the material you selected within the Material pop-up (see below).

Material pop-up

On clicking the ‘Material' input tab, its pop-up covers the Display Area (see the screenshot to the right).

The Material pop-up contains a list of materials supported by the Cutting Parameters Explorer. Each material is color-coded, according to the ISO Material Group Classification.

The materials in the pop-up are organized as follows:

  • Generic - the Cutting Parameters Explorer makes recommendations for all materials of the same generic type.

    • Example, Generic Aluminum alloy (high Si).

  • Specific - the Cutting Parameters Explorer will only make recommendations for the specific material.

    • Example, 390-T6.

How to change the selected material

Within the Material pop-up, take the following steps:

  1. Click on one of the generic or specific materials (use the options circle on the right)

    • The content of the Material tab changes immediately to the selected material.

  2. Click on the image-20240610-121902.png button in the top-right of the pop-up.

    • The selected material is automatically saved.

    • The Material pop-up closes.
