User Defined Machining Data

User Defined Machining Data

In CAM Assist, feeds and speed come from either:

  1. Calculated values from the CloudNC Cutting Parameters engine or,

  2. Presets defined in the Machining Data of the tools in session.

Machining Data will be applied if the Cutting parameters are set to either the first or second options on the Tool Use tab of CAM Assist:

Example

Machining Data is detected by CAM Assist if a preset is correctly labelled with a CAM Assist Supported Material and a CAM Assist Supported Operation.

For the following example, this tool “CAMASSIST_TOOL1” has a single roughing preset defined in the Cloud Connect Tool Manager. Here are the steps taken to achieve this.

Create a tool, the “Libref (Name)” is mandatory field in the Cloud Connect Tool Manager. The naming of the tool DOES NOT have any baring on pre-set identification.

In the Machining Data tab, “Add” a new cutting data preset. Populate the “Part Material” using the predefined CAM Assist Supported Materials.

Populate the “Method” field using the predefined CAM Assist Support Operations.

Save the tool and send the tool to session.

Once you have added your tools to session, launch CAM Assist. Navigate to the “Tool Usages” tab.

Select a tool in the tool use table at the bottom of the page. Hovering on the allowed usages will communicate which presets will be used for each usage. In this case, CAM Assist has identified preset “Roughing - Aluminium Roughing”.

In this case, if this tool is applied by CAM Assist for a toolpath, it will use the appropriate preset depending on the toolpath type. For instance if a Roughing toolpath were applied.
