The CloudNC Tool Library Creator for Mastercam creates a tool library (TOOLDB) file by extracting the tool properties from selected Mastercam files. With this tool, you can easily create a tool library file to get you up-and-running with CAM Assist and your own tools. The Tool Library Creator will also create Presets for the tools and given materials included.

 

To use the Tool Library Creator

  1. Open the CAM Assist menu from the CloudNC Ribbon in Mastercam, and select Tool Library Creator

  1. Fill in the required fields in the Tool Library Creator panel

    1. Stock Material - this will be the name of the generated material and the material selected in the Presets generated. Custom materials can be used,

    2. ISO Category - the ISO category of the stock material. This is necessary for calculating the Preset values.

    3. File details

      1. Target path - The target path is the directory where the created TOOLDB file will be saved.

      2. File name - the file name used for the TOOLDB file.

    4. Upload

      1. Source folder - the Tool Library Creator will process all Mastercam (MCAM) files available in the selected folder.

        1. Once the Source folder is selected, a preview of the source files will be presented.

As there may be many files in a given folder, it is recommended that the source folder be curated ahead of running the Tool Library Creator.

  1. Once all of the fields have been filled in in the proceeding step, select the Mastercam green check.png Green Checkbox button to start the tool library conversion process.

Note - The Tool Library Creator will open all of the files in the source folder. Some user intervention may be required during this process.

  1. Once all of the selected files have been processed, a confirmation message will be shown. Clicking ‘Yes’ in the dialog will open your TOOLDB file in the Mastercam Tool Manager application.

  1. It is recommended that each TOOLDB file created with the Tool Library Creator be checked over in the Mastercam Tool Manager

Note - If duplicate tools are found in the files used in the Tool Library Creator, there will be duplicates created in The Tool Assemblies and Cut Parameters. Some clean-up may be required in this case.

Note - If the files provided contain both inch and mm tools, a duplicate material will be created; one for each unit. Some clean-up may be required in this case.

 

 

You can now use your new tool library file in CAM Assist!
