The CAM Assist Face Milling strategy produces separate roughing and finishing passes with face mills, depending on how much stock needs to be removed. For each face mill, two cutting data Presets are needed:

  • Roughing

  • Finishing

Note - CAM Assist Cutting Parameters currently does not output feeds and speeds for indexable tools, like face mills. Tool library parameters for toolsets requires a Preset.

 

Example

Follow the example set with tool 12701 when configuring face mills in tool libraries.

In the CAM Assist [inch].tooldb file, that is provided with CAM Assist, tool 12701 is a face mill. In the Mastercam Tool Manager, the Cutting Tool is defined:

The tool is also defined as part of the Tool Assembly:

Lastly, Tool 12701 has two Cut Parameters (Presets) defined for Aluminum:

These Preset values define the feeds and speeds that are used by CAM Assist when the face mill 12701 is selected.
