Troubleshooting

The following questions and answers may help to troubleshoot any issues you have while using CloudNC CAM Assist for Mastercam.


Mastercam Event Log - how do I make a copy?

To make a copy of the Mastercam Event Log, take the following steps:

  1. Open the Windows System Tray:

    • You can find the System tray at the bottom-right side of the Windows Taskbar.

    • You open it by clicking the small arow pointing upward (see the image to the right).

Within the System Tray

  1. Right-click on the ‘Mastercam event log’ icon (tip: look for the Mastercam logo image-20240503-115824.png)

    • A pop-up menu is displayed (see the image to the right).

  2. Select Event log.

    • The Mastercam Event Log is displayed (see below)

Within the Mastercam Event Log:

  1. Right-click then select ‘Save’ (see the image to the right).

  2. Use the Windows ‘Save As’ dialogue (see below) to save to your chosen location.

    • This will save the event log as a list of comma-separated values (a .csv file).


Inconsistency between sizes shown in Mastercam’s Tool Manager and CAM Assist’s computed toolpaths

In the Mastercam’s Tool Manager, the cutting/surface speed (CS) and feed per tooth are set automatically when the spindle speed and feed rate is set.

Using the values in the screenshot to the right:

  • In Tool Manager, pi = 3.14169
    CS = 1138 * 63 * 3.14169 / 1000

  • In CAM Assist computations, pi = 3.14159

This is the cause of the inconsistency.


Why isn’t CAM Assist picking my drills for holemaking even though are the correct size?

Check that the tip angle on the bottom of the hole matches the tip angle of the drill.
