This part is a two operation part that makes use of the Soft Jaw Designer for the second operation.
Follow the steps below to work with Demo 5 - Aircraft bracket:
Open the CAM Assist drop-down menu and select Open a Demo Part > Demo 5 - Aircraft Bracket.
The file will open in the appropriate units depending on the current Mastercam configuration.
The file is preconfigured with two (2) Machine Groups. For Machine Group-2, soft jaws need to be created.
From the Fixture Management section of the CloudNC ribbon, open the Soft Jaw Designer.
Use the ‘Op 2’ viewsheet view when setting up the soft jaws.
From the Soft Jaw Designer panel, pick the Select part button from the Part section.
Select the Aircraft Bracket part from the main Mastercam view.
Pick the Select the two jaw stocks button from the Jaws section.
Select the two jaw stock bodies from the main Mastercam view.
In the Jaw Orientation section pick the Select spindle direction button.
Pick one of the upward faces of the part. (The faces pointing towards the bottom of the WCS).
In the Jaw Orientation section pick the Select jaw opening direction button.
Pick one of the long side faces on the part.
Select the green check button at the top of the Soft Jaw Designer Panel.
After a brief calculation, the soft jaws will be ready. To view the jaws, hide the part in the Layers tab.
For this tutorial, assume the soft jaws will be machined independently.
Now the part can be programmed using CAM Assist.
Open CAM Assist from the CloudNC ribbon.
In the General tab of the CAM Assist panel, choose the tool library(ies) to use.
Choose the appropriate machine properties.
Choose the Machining mode. For this example, choose 3+2 and Automatic.
Ensure both Setups are checked on in the Target setups section.
In Machine Group-2, pick the Select avoidance geometries button.
Select the soft jaw bodies from the previous step. Hit ‘Enter’ to complete the selection.
Confirm the selections in the Tool Use tab.
Select the Stock material.
In the Advanced tab, check on all the necessary Toolpath Types.
Check any of the other settings, and make adjustments if necessary.
Hit the green check button at the bottom of the panel to run CAM Assist.
